Vision and Values
Our school vision is based on Joshua 1:9 – “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Growing as a learning community through Joshua 1:9, we endeavour to seek what is good, treasure what is true, do what is right. Rooted in our Christian understanding of who we are before God, we strive to be fearless advocates of this, dedicated to service and the flourishing of peace.
Our vision is our perception of who we are as a school. It describes the ethos we expect governors and staff to embody and which we seek to foster in our children.
Our vision guides our learning and is an aspiration for the type of community we want to be. Monken Hadley prides itself on being a welcoming school community to all families. It is not simply a vision for children but a vision for all. At its heart is an ambition that we can all grow and flourish having been to this wonderful school. All our children develop a love of learning, discover their talents and gifts and are free to be curious in all aspects of school life.
Monken Hadley Values
A Christian ethos is about much more than Christian values, but any ethos implies and promotes certain values. We have identified nine values for particular attention in our school:
- Integrity
- Humility
- Joy
- Gratitude
- Resilience
- Kindness
- Grace
- Service
- Peace
Using an image of a tree, we think about these values in terms of root and fruit values: The Four root values relate to the gift character of life and linked to love of God. The Four fruit values show how love of neighbour is expressed, not least in response to what we have received from God. Resilience acknowledges that remaining rooted and bearing fruit need to be won again and again in the face of adversity and drawbacks.
As with our vision, our values are not limited to these areas but permeate throughout school life. At our core, these values offer an opportunity to understand and learn characteristics that are reflected in our Lord, Jesus, and our aspiration to reflect them in ourselves.
Some of our year 3 pupils made videos about our values, what they mean to them and how they see the values being "lived-out" in our school.
Ethos
We are committed to including children and staff from a rich variety of backgrounds, faith, social circumstances and abilities.
Our values tree connects each value and builds strength from each other.
Our Journey
The essence of our vision is that everyone in our community continues to grow and flourish. We have high aspirations for everyone. As a result, our children leave Monken Hadley with curious minds, a love of learning, and are highly numerate and literate. Pupils master the digital world, have an understanding of how to look after themselves both physically and mentally and become brave advocates for social change. Click on the box to find out more.
